American singer-songwriter Taylor Swift"Sparks Fly" taken from her third studio album, Speak Now (2010). The song was written solely by Swift, with production handled by her and her long-time producer Nathan Chapman. The country pop song speaks of falling in love with somebody that may not be appropriate to fall in love with. "Sparks Fly" was released on August 10, 2011 by Big Machine Records as the fifth single from Speak Now.
"Sparks Fly" has been met with mixed reviews by critics. Some critics believe the song could turn things around for Swift and praise it for its upbeat tempo, while others have claimed the song falls short in certain areas. Prior to its single release, the song debuted at number seventeen on the Billboard Hot 100 due to strong digital sales.

American alternative rock band Paramore "Monster" was released on June 7, 2011 for digital download. It is also the second single from the Transformers: Dark of the Moon OST, which was released on June 14, 2011. It is the first song to not feature former band members Josh and Zac Farro, who separated from the band in 2010.

Spanish recording artist Enrique Iglesias has new song "Dirty Dancer" with American recording artist Usher for Iglesias' sixth studio album, Euphoria and Usher's first EP Versus. A remix of the song, which features American rapper Lil Wayne, was released on May 7, 2011 by Universal Music Group as the sixth single from Euphoria. Written by the two singers with Evan Bogart, Erika Nuri and David Quiñones and producer RedOne, "Dirty Dancer" is a dance-pop song with rave music influences. The album version appeared on the UK Singles Chart the Dutch Single Top 100 and the Slovakian Radio Top 100 Oficiálna, while the single version entered the Australian Singles Chart, the New Zealand Singles Chart and the United States Billboard Hot 100.

 American recording artist Jason Derülo has new song "Don't Wanna Go Home". The song was   released on May 20, 2011 as the lead single from his upcoming second studio album, Future History. Written by Derülo, and Chaz William and David Delazyn of The Fliptones, "Don't Wanna Go Home" samples the song "Show Me Love" by Robin S. and incorporates an interpolation of "Day-O (The Banana Boat Song)" by Harry Belafonte. Most critics praised the song's production and lyrics, while others observed its lack of originality. The song has charted on the Australian Singles Chart, New Zealand Singles Chart and the US Billboard Hot 100. An accompanying music video was directed by Rich Lee, and features Derülo in various dance sequences in an industrial warehouse.
